The lifecycle, chapter by chapter.

A unit has the same shape every time: it is designed, approved, delivered, assessed, marked, moderated, released and reviewed. Coord is organised in that order, so the page you need is the next page.

Chapter I · Design

The outline is built from live data.

Learning outcomes, the week list and the assessment table with every policy field: late penalty, extension rule, hurdle, AI-use statement, feedback due date. Weights are checked to one hundred and against your organisation's single-task cap.

The assessment map lays outcomes against tasks against weeks and flags due dates that land on a weekend, a public holiday, a revision period, or another unit's deadline in the same program.1 2

Chapter II · Approve

A versioned outline, signed off with a stamp.

Submit an outline and the approver's decision is recorded as a stamp with the date and their initials. Changes after publication carry a reason and appear in the change log with the version they altered.3

Export the approved outline as PDF, DOCX, HTML or Markdown; the diff between any two versions is one click.

Chapter III · Deliver

Sessions are a ledger; the semester is thirteen columns.

Import an Allocate+ or timetable file, or type sessions in. Conflicts are shown as they happen: a tutor double-booked, a repeat within seven days of the first delivery, a room clash.4

This week's ledger lists what is due, whose marking is open and who is away. Weekly notes hold the announcement draft and the tutor briefing.

Chapter IV · Assess

Every exception, keyed to a student and a task.

The exceptions ledger holds extensions, special-consideration outcomes, access-plan adjustments (by type, never by condition), deferred and supplementary grants, re-mark requests and integrity cases, each with a five-working-day timer and an export for the board's declarations.5

Late penalties compute from the policy: rate, base, day unit, cap, grace, stop condition, and per-grade rules for seven-point scales.

Chapter V · Mark

The desk, driven from the keyboard.

Allocations by group, at random or by hand. j and k to move between students, criterion levels by keyboard, a holistic override that needs a reason, a comment bank, and the total set large with its band beside it.

Time per script is captured for the hours ledger, so the record of marking time is evidence rather than an estimate.6 7

Chapter VI · Moderate

The whole cohort on one page.

A calibration set and agreement statistics before marking opens. A sampling plan that pulls every narrow fail, every high distinction and a random share. Second marks against a tolerance of ten marks or one band, reconciled with a reason.8

Per-marker distributions against the cohort with outliers flagged. Adjustments are offsets or scales applied to a marker's set; the raw mark is kept; nothing is ever scaled automatically. The MODERATED record is one page for the board.

Chapter VII · Release

Provisional until the system of record says otherwise.

Totals from the grade engine: weights, penalties, best-of-N, hurdles, rounding once at the end, your scale's bands and administrative codes. Per-student holds for open integrity cases. The distribution is shown against previous offerings and never curved.9

The results file is shown exactly as it will be written: Callista tab-delimited with the columns it came in with, SI-net two columns, SITS, Banner, TechnologyOne, or any LMS gradebook dialect.10

Chapter VIII · Review

What changed, what to change, and who inherits it.

The unit review holds the distribution, the fail rate, evaluation themes, what changed this time and what to change next, with owners against each item.

The handover pack gathers key dates, the team, policies, files, decisions and open items, and transfers to the incoming coordinator as PDF or Markdown.12

Teaching-period dates (start, census, break, study week, exams, results) are taken from each university's published academic calendar for 2026 and 2027 and stored, never derived. Extensions, special consideration, access plans, deferred exams, re-marks and appeals arrive through several portals and email, and must be reconciled against the gradebook. Institutional special-consideration and assessment policies; coordinator role descriptions.
